SHF released this week its second Annual Report titled ‘Building Sanitation Economies and Menstrual Health Markets for a Sustainable Future’.

Since our inception, and with the valuable support we have received from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Switzerland, SHF has been working diligently to radically transform how sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health are viewed and funded. Three years on, we are glad to see these efforts concretize through our unique value propositions and partnerships on technical assistance on sector reform, market shaping and building, scaling up of local solutions and catalytic financing, and we are excited to continue to drive greater public and private investments into sanitation economies and menstrual health (MH) markets.

As our Board Chair Cecilia Akintomide states in her foreword, “building resilient sanitation economies and MH markets means powering local businesses, communities and economies, at each stage of the value chain.” Through our gender- and climate-focussed projects and partnerships, we will continue to contribute to these critical pillars for a sustainable future, hedging against future environmental and health risks especially in the climate crisis. Our ultimate goal remains to achieve prosperity and gender equality, mitigate climate change and protect the environment, and contribute to human health and economic development, leaving no one behind.
